Celebrations for Greenock CFS

Greenock CFS celebrated the official opening of their new station amenities and the 50th anniversary of the official opening of the original Greenock CFS Station at a dinner held on November 20th.

Around 70 people attended the dinner, including former members involved in the early days of the brigade, current members, familes and supporters.

For the last 59 years, the brigade members have been forced to use toilets in nearby buildings, or trees out the back of the station. However, following hard work by the brigade members, and funding from Region 2 CFS HQ, the brigade members now have their own toilets and amenities area.

The new amenities include a male and female toilet, both with disabled access, and an area for cleaning of breathing apparatus and other equipment.

The amenities have been built in between the existing station, and a storage shed, incorporating them all in one building.

The current CFS station incorporates parts of the original station, officially opened 50 years ago.
