Australia’s second national counter-terrorism multijurisdictional exercise, Mercury 05, will occur in October 2005.
Mercury 05 is a strategic level exercise involving large scale field deployment activities and discussion exercises conducted under the auspices of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCTC).
The aim of Mercury 05 is to test Australia’s prevention, preparedness, response and recovery arrangements for a terrorist event.
A wide range of Government agencies will be involved in the exercise - including the Country Fire Service, Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Ambulance, State Emergency Service, SA Police, as well as the Department of Health, Department of Transport, Energy & Infrastructure and more.
