Mt lofty Tower now a Brigade

In mid-October, the Mt Lofty Fire Tower was approved as an Official SA CFS Brigade. The inaugural AGM of the Brigade was held on Wednesday 18th October.
The Tower stands 34 metres tall, on the top of Mt Lofty. On a clear day Fire Locators can see Kangaroo Island, and the Yorke Peninsula. Fire Locators work in teams of 2 on days when the potential Fire Danger is elevated. When smoke is located, the local CFS brigade (or in some cases MFS station) are turned out. At the same time, the Fire Bomber Aircraft will respond. Despite being early in the Fire Season, Fire Locators have already located number of fires before the alarm was raised on the ground.
For information on joining the brigade and assisting over this fire season, please contact the Captain, David McGowan
