12 Appliance

1000L, 2WD General Purpose Appliance

A 12 appliance (pronounced as 'one - two appliance') carries approximately 1000 litres of water and is a two wheel drive vehicle.

The last 12 appliance in the CFS fleet was decommissioned in January 2015 from the Aldgate brigade.. The 12 appliances have been replaced by more adaptive 4WD versions as they were phased out of service.

A 12 appliance can be used in flat to undulating terrain, for combating grass & scrub fires, car fires, and other types of incidents, although it is well suited to urban type tasks. It is a generally a quick attack vehicle.
