Raising awareness of the roles, training and activities of CFS Volunteers state-wide

Training Centre
Specialist Training Centre

Training centres have been set up around the state to provide a local, easily accessible means of providing up to date training to all members. There are two specific Training centres in the state - the State Training Centre, (STC) located at Brukunga in the Adelaide Hills, and the Region 5 Training Centre at Naracoorte in the South East.

The CFS offers courses in a wide range of areas, including:

  • Rural Firefighting (including bushfires, plantation fires)
  • Breathing Apparatus
  • Industrial Fires
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Road Crash Rescue
  • Officer training
  • Incident Management
  • Chainsaw Safety
  • Compartment Firefighting
  • Driver training
  • Food handling

Many of the courses are provided in house by CFS members (paid and volunteer) and many are Nationally Accredited. CFS also utilises external providers for some courses, such as First Aid, Chainsaw safety, driver training and more.

Many of the training courses can be presented outside the dedicated training centres, at local fire stations, or other locations.
