Towns & Urban Areas. The Adelaide metropolitan area and country towns are described as being a built-up area if there are buildings such as houses, shops and factories located next to a roadway and usually have street lighting. As defined by the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, the total amount of area defined as 'built up' in South Australia is less than 1%, but is where 99% of the population live. |
